XRP Ledger Weekly Data Report — Week of August 17–23, 2026

How to read this report

Every metric below carries its source and its snapshot date, and we do not publish figures we cannot trace to a public source. This edition was revised on September 14, 2026 under our fully sourced data policy. Two methodological notes shape it: the rally's most important derivatives datapoint (open interest) is available only as an August 17–31 block figure, and we present it that way rather than interpolating a weekly number; and the ledger's slow-moving supply metrics carry their last community-verified snapshot (July 26) honestly dated.

1. Market metrics

#MetricValueContext / changeSource, date
1XRP price$1.00 → $1.70 → ~$1.50~70% rally in under 72 hours from the $1.00 support zone; $1.70 high Saturday morning Aug 22; rejected to $1.42 within hours; ~$1.50 at week's reporting — strongest move of 2026CriptoFacil market desk, Aug 22–24
2Market capitalization~$94B at ~$1.50 (calculated)$1.70 high ≈ $107B (calculated: price × ~62.9B circulating, market-data basis)Calculated from CriptoFacil price × CoinGecko supply
3Distance from all-time high−53.4% (calculated)From the $3.65 ATH (CoinGecko, Jul 2025) at the $1.70 high; −48.5% from the Jan 2025 peak near $3.30 (edgeX reference)Calculated; ATH per CoinGecko
4August monthly range$0.9874 – $1.70A 72% span inside one month; June–July drawdown fully retraced in five sessionsCriptoFacil, edgeX (low), Aug 22–24
5Monthly paceOn track for 2026's strongest monthConfirmed at +28% by month-end compilationsSoSoValue / Yellow.com, Aug 31

The tape story of the week is the reversal's composition: violent, spot-led, and supply-gapped. The $1.70 high met the $1.65–$1.70 resistance zone that has stopped multiple rallies in recent months, and the rejection was equally fast — $1.42 within hours, stabilizing near $1.50. A market that retraces its whole quarterly drawdown in five sessions is repricing supply, not announcing a new regime; the levels ledger below keeps score.

2. Supply & escrow

#MetricValueContext / changeSource, date
6Circulating supply (market-data basis)~62.9B XRPNearest sourced reading; no independent weekly snapshot this weekCoinGecko basis, Aug
7Circulating supply (ledger basis)67.53B XRPRaw activated supply; see the Aug 10–16 edition's methodology noteXRPScan, Jul 26

11ETF cumulative net inflows$1.55B — all-time recordCrossed Friday Aug 21 on the complex's best day since May 14 (+$18.38M)SoSoValue via CriptoFacil, Aug 22

Why two circulating-supply numbers: market-data aggregators apply Ripple's distribution-API methodology to the ledger's raw activated supply; market caps are computed against the estimate. Both are real; they measure different things, and we label both.

3. Network activity

#MetricValueContext / changeSource, date
12Avg daily active addresses (August to date)~35,700vs ~26,400 in July — +33%; held through both the drawdown and the spikeSantiment via edgeX, Aug 13

Item 13 is the block's quiet headline: the network's busiest day in half a year printed three days before the price bottomed. Utility data leading price — rather than chasing it — is the pattern that made the subsequent 72-hour move absorbable rather than air-pocketed.

4. RLUSD stablecoin

#MetricValueContext / changeSource, date

20Permission delegationIn testingSeparates minting/compliance/security roles from issuer primary keysCrypto Times, Aug 22

The block's read: RLUSD spent the wildest price week of the year being boring — peg intact, reserves over-collateralized, issuance on its institutional calendar. The $2B crossing that followed within days was the calendar meeting the milestone; the attestation's $115M surplus is the part that actually protects holders.

5. ETF flows & derivatives

#MetricValueContext / changeSource, date
21aETF daily inflows (Tue–Fri)+$5.81M / +$2.35M / +$13.24M / +$18.38MTue Aug 18 was the month's largest day to that point; Friday was the complex's best day since May 14SoSoValue via CriptoFacil, Aug 22
21bETF weekly net inflows+$31.78MWeek ending Aug 21 — best weekly total since May; the following week would triple itSoSoValue via Summa Money / Finobird, Sep
22aFutures open interest−15.5% (Aug 17–31 block)Price +70% while OI fell: short covering and spot-led buying, not fresh leverage. Weekly interpolation not published — block figure onlyCoinGlass via CoinDesk, Sep 8
22bIssuer standings (cumulative)Bitwise $542.69M · Canary $468.12M · Franklin $434.16MFee-sensitive distribution visible in the re-engagementSoSoValue via CriptoFacil, Aug 22

Omitted this week: a spot open-interest reading and funding rate had no verifiable weekly print in the sources above; the block OI figure (22a) is the honest resolution. Context from later coverage: funding had turned positive by Aug 28 and stayed near +0.01%/8h — consistent with the unleveraged character of this rally.

Sentiment & the week ahead

The macro backdrop turned supportive mid-week — Treasury signaling a policy shift, the White House crypto summit on Wednesday — though same-day ETF flows (+$2.35M) showed XRP capturing little of the immediate headline bid. The calendar ahead: the first retest of $1.65–$1.70 with real flow behind it, RLUSD's $2B crossing, and the CLARITY vote-counting phase with the Senate's September 15 cloture date firmed. The structural question the data poses: a rally with no leverage underneath has no liquidation fuel — its continuation depends entirely on the flow curve and the spot accumulator. Both were still accelerating at week's end.

FAQ

Why is open interest shown as a two-week block figure?

Because the verifiable reading (CoinGlass data via CoinDesk) covers August 17–31 as a block: −15.5% during the rally. Splitting it into weekly numbers would require interpolation we cannot source, so we publish the block and date it. Under the site's data policy, block figures beat invented precision.

What does "OI down while price up 70%" actually mean?

Open interest counts open derivative contracts. Falling OI against a rising price means the rally was carried by short covering (positions closing) and spot buying, not by new leveraged longs. Practically: no liquidation fuel beneath the move, which explains both its violence and its eventual fade — and it made the subsequent positioning rebuild the key variable for September's tape.

Why do the two circulating-supply figures disagree?

They measure different bases: CoinGecko's estimate (from Ripple's distribution API) nets out certain classified holdings, while XRPScan's 67.53B (July 26 snapshot) is the ledger's raw activated supply. Market caps are computed against the estimate. Both are published with dates so you can judge.

Did RLUSD's $2B crossing happen this week?

The crossing itself landed in the following days — Ripple confirmed RLUSD had crossed $2 billion in market cap in a statement published August 25, referencing the prior week. The attestation in this report ($1.981B reserves vs $1.866B circulating, Aug 20) is the last verified reading before the milestone.
